What they say about us

Handel ‘Messiah’: Saturday 12th November 2016

‘We really enjoyed the evening, the performance was exceptional.  We have never experienced the full Messiah and no idea how much was involved. It was good to see how well it was supported, the church was full.  A great effort all round and you have all done us all a great service.  Who would have thought that Broadstairs could put on such show!’

‘Bravo. What a performance, the choir was fantastic’

‘This was a beautiful experience last night. My son and I enjoyed it very much!’

‘Passion, emotion, drive, dramatic intensity, complete mastery of the music  .. this performance had it all’

A Night at the Opera: Saturday 11th June 2016

‘The concert was a thoroughly enjoyable occasion!  We were treated to a tour de force of solos, ensembles and choruses from some of the greatest operas.  Many of the best known were sung with as much sensitivity and musicality as any London performance. The Soloists’ voices were amazing, the Pianist’s accompanying first-rate, and the Choir’s mastery of four languages and great tonal quality did them, and their conductor, great credit. Thanks to all involved for a wonderful evening.’

Spohr ‘The Last Judgement’: Saturday 19th March 2016

‘Thanet Festival Choir’s concert on Saturday was a delight. This was a work that I did not know, but it did not matter: the Choir did a wonderful job of ‘selling’ The Last Judgement  and it would be
fair to say that the whole audience was greatly moved by their performance. Music Director Clifford Lister – who conducted – had done an excellent job in preparing his singers: the Choir appeared secure, confident and, above all, the singers were clearly enjoying themselves.’

Finzi ‘God is gone up’, Elgar ‘O hearken Thou’ and  ‘Great is the Lord,’ and Dvorak ‘Mass in D’: Saturday 7th November 2015

‘The Thanet Festival Choir is the greatest!  We were enthralled.  A truly divine evening … our best wishes to the choir members and  their great conductor!!!’

‘I had to write to say how much we enjoyed Saturday’s  concert. They were challenging pieces to sing and it was a special performance with some magical moments. It looked so good too, everyone engaged and singing with real purpose and expression. To hear such a large group of people singing softly is very moving.’

‘Really moving. ‘Great is the Lord’ was a tour-de-force, and ‘O hearken Thou’ was sung with real sensitivity’.

Haydn ‘Missa Brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo’ and Vivaldi ‘Gloria’: Saturday 27th June 2015

‘A thoroughly enjoyable and musically accomplished concert.’
